Fishery Report: Week Ending: Sunday 8th March

The 2020 season started on the 6th March on Eyebrook with a pre-season stocking of 5600 fish. However, even with the large stocking, sport was tough on opening day resulting on a rod average of 1.7. This was down to a few factors such as water clarity, bright sunshine and light winds. Top rod of the day was All Water Member Steve Orton with 6 fish to the boat using Humungous patterns and Pitsford peas, whilst his partner, Ged O’Donoghue had 5 fish to FAB patterns, making them top boat on the day. Peter Harris had 5 fishing Orange Zonker patterns from his boat.

With little improvement in water clarity over the weekend, the fishing was still tough with a rod average of 1.1, on Saturday and 1.15 on Sunday. On Saturday, Mr Fenn and his boat partner had a relatively successful day with 5 whilst all water members Adam Gunby and Steve Jordan netted three. to the boat Lawrie Gillespie was top rod on Sunday taking six to his boat. Top areas include the Bell and Dogswood Bay and the dam wall around the draw off tower. Fast intermediate and Di3 lines seem to be working best from the boats with black blobs, black Snakes and black Minkies. The usual early season patterns are also working well, as is bright coloured lures.

Clarity is improving daily, as it improves the fishing will as well

Opening weeks rod average 1.4
