A week that kept getting better at Eyebrook and finished with a rod average of 7.2. Warmer air temperatures brought the fish back onto the surface with an abundance of natural fly life the dry fly sport has been incredible. Water temperature is now at 14 degrees, a much friendlier temperature for a trout, making them feed throughout the day. There are still a good number of fish on the fry and anglers have reported rainbows to 4lb plus and browns to 5lb 8oz coming to floating fry and suspender minkies. The majority of fish have been coming to daddies and large sedge patterns from across the main basin. Bank angling has been consistent with anglers fishing the Belle, Hawthorns and dam wall. Most fish are being caught on floating fry, dries or corixa patterns.
Jim Deacon got the week off to a good start. Bank fishing from the hawthorns he caught 8 fish on a traditional Sweeney Todd. Tom Wallace and boat partner had a cracking day. Fishing in Norris Dyke the deadly duo caught nearly 30 fish on black diawl Bachs and blobs. Don Mansel and R Buckingham also had a respectable day. Returning 11 fish including a 5lb brown trout which they caught around the weed out from The Chestnut tree on a fry pattern.
Tuesday was a slightly slower day with periods of flat calm making fishing challenging at times. Lots of fish were showing on the surface between the Chestnut tree and The willows. Members David Hay and Lindsay Bates boat fished drifting open water out from the chestnut tree. They caught 7 fish including two browns of around 4lbs each on fry patterns fished on a slow intermediate line. Brian Skey fished at anchor out from the willows and caught 8 fish during a morning session on size 14 Diawl Bachs fished on a washing line.
Wednesday and Thursday were colder making the fish reluctant to rise for dry flys. Clive Moore and Ian Jobe caught 16 fish to the boat on daddies and fry patterns from the Island and Robbos. D Quigley and friends enjoyed their three day trip to Eyebrook. Returning 206 fish between 8 of them over the three days. The majority of fish came to Paisley dry fly patterns and large sedge patterns. They found the fish between the Island and Robbos cabain.
Friday and Saturday fished well with both days producing a rod average of over 4. Fish were coming to the dries and fry patterns from the across the main basin. Peter Nesbit caught and returned 11 fish on dries and crunchers fished on a washing line. Roger Charles bank fished at the Hawthorns and caught 5 lovely fish on a floating fry patterns. Father and son team Tim and Paul Polito had a successful day boating over a dozen fish on CDC’s fished from a drifting boat. Mr J Hayes fished with daddies fished both dry and wet. Together with his boat partner they caught nearly 20 fished whilst drifting open water. Their best fish weighted just over 4lbs.
Sunday fished very well despite a Easterly wind. Lots of naturals could be seen on the water. Daddies, beetles, cinnamon sedge and a good mix of buzzers coming off. The majority of fish came to dries. Jim Smith and boat Partner Ed Douglas drifted the main basin and continuously caught throughout the day on size 16 dries. David Etty and Oliver Mills caught 10 fish on foam daddies and blobs. Mike Jenkins and Steve Wright drifted the main basin and caught 18 fish to the boat fishing a large sedge pattern, moving it through the surface.
The forecast for the week ahead looks good. Overcast days with a South east wind changing to a south westerly from Thursday onwards. Highs of 18 degrees. There should be plenty of daddies on the water after Mondays rain. Please book well in advance as we are extremely busy for the week ahead. .
Pike Fly fishing remains tricky. Things should improve as water temperature lowers and bait fish shoal up.
We are allowing rudders & float tubers welcome.

Lodge will be open from 7.30am for bank anglers to book in with boats available from 8.30am
We will be operating the same pricing structure that we use at our other water with the permit loyalty card & boat loyalty card valid at all our waters
