Fishery Report: Week Ending: 24 May 2020

We would remind all our anglers day & season permit you are required to call at the lodge for staff to book you in before commencing to fish.

This week has seen some exceptional sport from both the bank and the boats with anglers reporting some of the best fishing they have had in a long while. Weekly Rod average 6.2

Most of the fish have held up well in the areas between the Hawthorne’s and the Island with good numbers showing along Mucky bank. Fish have also been found from the Chestnut tree across to Stoke dry where Kev Hart reported fish gorging on damsel fly nymphs and providing excellent sport while out on the float tube at the beginning of the week.

In the early stages of the week, numbers of anglers were consistently catching on a variety of small dries and yellow bodied daddies. There were also a lot of fish falling to small buzzers, Hares ear and Diawl Bach patterns. The common theme was smaller flies were being taken more frequently, size 12’s and 14’s.

As the week progressed, the temperatures started to rocket and the bright sun and lack of cloud cover had pushed the fish down and out from the bank during the day which made the bank fishing a little more difficult. As the weekend arrived, it was followed by strong winds which made the fishing a little more challenging. Despite the challenging conditions Mr & Mrs Killen managed a good number of fish on the Saturday and Sunday while on a 2 day package, they had such a great visit that they’ve already booked up for a future visit.

The staff at the lodge have worked tirelessly to ensure that the lodge and boats are sanitised and kept safe. PLEASE help us by following the simple guidelines that have been put in place. Do not enter any of the buildings unless it is to use the toilet facilities, or to book out with catch returns at the end of your days fishing.

The staff would like to thank everyone for their support and patience during this period.
