Eyebrook produced great sport this week with an overall rod average of 4.6. Various methods working as the fish change their feeding habits from insect to fry feeding. Dries have worked during warmer days with most fish coming blind to daddies and hoppers. Nymphs fished on a washing line have caught well. Black buzzers or crunchers fished with either a FAB or floating fry on the point are working well. Most of the fry action is coming to lures fished in the top three feet. Minkies or zonkers on a floating or slow intermediate line are working well. Most boats are drifting the basin into the wooded bank. There are still a number of resident fish around the weed along the willows and stoke dry but are particularly difficult to tempt. A single floating fry or corixa pattern working best for these fish.
Bank anglers are having mixed success depending on wind speed and direction. Most choose to fish the Belle and hawthorns. Others have ventured to the island and chestnut and have more success. Fry and Corixa patterns working best. There are feeding fish between the water’s edge and weed beds in a few inches of water. It is advisable to make a steady approach to the bank and avoid wading to begin.
Monday fished extremely well in extremely challenging conditions. A strong westerly wind blew and most boats chose to take shelter on the Leicester bank, anchored or making short drifts. Mr Woods, Mr Munro and Mr Kay enjoyed the first of their three days fishing at Eyebrook. (we offer discounted rates for both single and two man boats on a three day ticket across all our waters. Visit our website for full details www.flyfishstore.com) The competent trio caught nearly 50 fish on white lures, pulled daddies and hoppers. Mr Grele bank fished between the hawthorns and Sam’s Dyke and caught 5 fish on a size 12 black buzzer fished on a washing line.
The middle of the week was interesting with changeable conditions. Mr Hunter caught a dozen fish on a ‘little devil’ or ‘Diawl Bach’ as it is more commonly known. Luke Key and boat partner Marcle Kwisinle caught 14 fish on a catswhisker fished on a floating line whilst drifting the main basin.
Friday produced a great rod average of 6.2. Eyebrook held a corporate event for Sygenta UK. 18 anglers enjoyed great hospitality with bacon rolls for breakfast, great fishing and fish and chips to finish. Tim Burn was absolutely un stoppable and caught 32 fish which easily took him and his boat partner Richard Ward to win the day. Other notable catches during Friday were Mr Vicedo from France and friends catching and returning a boat full each on blobs and mini sparklers. Mr Burley and Campbell found lots of feeding fish off the dam wall and caught on a cats whisker. Member Mr Bilsden and Tibbet got stuck into fish off Robbos cabin, Fishing black and green lures and FAB’s.
The sport continued into the weekend with many anglers experiencing red letter days. Draycote Member Mr Edward Douglas stuck to dry flies and was rewarded with 14 quality rainbows for his efforts. Mr Alan Grant made the 100 yards trip and anchored just past the tower. He remained there for his 6 hour session and caught 18 fish on fry patterns fished in the top few feet.

We are allowing rudders & float tubers welcome, with the float tubing association visiting us on the 14th October.

Lodge will be open from 7.30am for bank anglers to book in with boats available from 8.30am
We will be operating the same pricing structure that we use at our other water with the permit loyalty card & boat loyalty card valid at all our waters

Last day of the 2017 season will be Tuesday 31st October. A date for the start of the 2018 is yet to be confirmed. We are however now taking bookings for April 2018 onwards.
